Tyler McCaul

One of the younger faces on the MTB scene, Tyler McCaul is beginning to elevate his game beyond grom status as many will soon take notice. Tyler shares why his focus will be distributed across all aspects of MTB.

Seems like your riding is progressing pretty quickly as you get bigger. What are you going to be focusing on most in terms of your riding in 2007?

Well I'm going to try and make it to all the NORBA races in '07 and hopefully make the junior worlds team if all goes well. I'm also going to go to as many dirt jump comps as I can and try to make it to a few a slopestyle events, so I guess that I'm going try and focus on everything, but I'll will probably be more focused on the racing aspect.

What's the latest thing you have been working on in the pool?

I don't really pool jump that much because I would rather just ride my real bike. The other day I tried some front flips and that was scary! I think that I'm going try some more tomorrow though...

So it sounds like the Post Office's (local dirt jumps in Santa Cruz) days may be numbered. Are the locals bummed or are there plenty of other places in town to ride?

Yeah, we've been hearing that they're going to get torn down for the past few years, but I guess that now it's actually going to happen. It sucks, but there's nothing we can really do about because some money-hungry punk is going build some houses on the lot. We've got some other spots in town but not as good as that place so I'm going to have to build some jumps somewhere else I guess.

Have you signed any autographs for the girls at your high school?

Um, a few years ago me and my bro were in YM magazine (some chick mag) and some girls at my school had me sign there copies of it. It was pretty sweet...

Any plans to jump the pier?

Nope.

What places do you plan on riding in 2007 that you have yet to ride in your life?

I really want to go to the Rays 3-ride comp in Ohio this year because that place looks super fun. I also really want to ride some of the east coast downhill courses this year along with the slopestyle course at Monster Park.

Which finger does Cam pick his nose with?

Pinky finger...that's funny that I actually know that. I guess that he does it a lot.

I watch Laguna Beach!! Greg Watts watches Queer Eye for the Straight Guy 'cause he says that he "wants to perfect his gay lisp."
